Popis: The land use dynamic method is among different available methods and approaches to evaluate the LULC change over a given period of time. In this research, satellite imagery has been used to map land cover in 1984, 1992, 2000, 2008, and 2016 years through the maximum likelihood supervised classification method in Meshginshahr, Iran. Based on the results, the accuracy of classified maps was appropriate, and the Kappa coefficient was higher than 0.85, and the overall accuracy was above 90%. The degree of single and integrated land use change dynamic has been calculated using the change matrix and land use data of each studied year over the given period. The results showed that the most change in land use belongs to residential areas with a dynamic degree of 7.97%. After that, the greatest change was related to forest land use, which had a decreasing trend with a dynamic level of − 1.85% during this 32-year period. The decrease in rangeland area has been impressive the value of land use dynamic by − 2.37%, which can be attributed to an intensified use and rangeland conversion to other land uses. Rangelands are the main which can be attributed to the population increase and, during that time, an increase in the use of this land-use related. Rangelands are the main source of livelihood for the local communities in the study area, and meanwhile, its conversion to other land uses should be the main concern of decision-makers.
