One may be interested in measurements of the concentration of the nuclei of condensation in the atmosphere for one or more of the following reasons: (a) Because of the fundamental role of these nuclei in the formation of fag and clouds; (b) because of their relation to the pollution and the visibility of the atmosphere; (c) because of certain associations of these nuclei with other meteorological phenomena, such as type of air-mass; and (d) because of the marked influence they exert in the phenomena of atmospheric electricity. In any case, one will need, sooner or later, an estimate of the reliability of nuclei-counts. |
