Refraction of light in gallium phosphide

Popis: The measurements of the refractive index were made at temperatures of 100-420~ in the spectral interval 2.5-0.05 eV (k =0.5-25 p) by the interference method and in the 2.4-0.73 eV (X=0.54-1.7 p) interval by the prism method. Plane-parallel samples of GaP 25-40 ~ thick were prepared by the usual technique for a spectrophotometr ie interference picture. The thickness of the samples and the interference order were established by means of comparison with measurements by the prism method. In the photon energy range of 2.5-0.73 eV (X =0.5-1.7 ~) the interference spectra were obtained on an appara~s mounted on the base of a DFS-12 spectrometer. A UR-10 spectrometer with a special illuminator was used to obtain the transmission spectra in the 0.6-0.05-eV (.X =2-25 g) range of photon energies. A comparison procedure described below was used in the prism-method measurements to reveal small variations of the refractive index.
