Large samples of inclusively produced ${\ensuremath{\Xi}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$, ${\ensuremath{\Omega}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$, and ${\ensuremath{\Xi}}^{0}$(1530) events are presented from a 1427 events/\ensuremath{\mu}b exposure of the large-aperture superconducting-solenoid spectrometer to an 11-GeV/c ${K}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ beam. Production characteristics of these states are compared with other data and shown to be consistent with hyperon exchange. Polarization of ${\ensuremath{\Xi}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ shows an increase in magnitude with both Feynman x and transverse momentum. The ${\ensuremath{\Xi}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ decay parameters are measured to be ${\ensuremath{\alpha}}_{\ensuremath{\Xi}}$=-0.40\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.03 and ${\ensuremath{\Phi}}_{\ensuremath{\Xi}}$=(5\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}10)\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} . Results of searches for higher-mass hyperons are presented. The ${\ensuremath{\Xi}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$(1820)\ensuremath{\rightarrow}${\ensuremath{\Xi}}^{0}$(1530)${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ decay is observed, while we fail to confirm the existence of the ${\ensuremath{\Sigma}}^{+}$(3170). |
