Popis: | We study the progressive penetration of current in a good conductor as the penetration depth a increases. More specifically, we perform this task for the canonical problem of a circular cylinder immersed in a low-frequency incident E-wave. The material of the cylinder is a nonmagnetic good conductor, and we examine the evolution of quantities such as the fields at the surface and the radiative losses. Particular attention is devoted to the limits /spl delta//spl rarr/0 (which corresponds to a perfect conductor) and /spl delta//spl rarr//spl infin/ (which leads to the cylinder becoming transparent). |
