Popis: The method were investigated to from three-dimensional crossing structure of fibers in non-woven fabrics by using a biaxial stretching and succesive thermal shrinking technique. The mechanicl and handling properties of such reformed non-woven fabrics were also investigated. Biaxial stretching and thermal shrinking processes were carried out under given conditions at a proper temperature established on the basis of both thermal properties of constituent fibers and adhesive resins of non-woven fabrics. The construction of the reformed non-woven fabrics was observed by a scanning electromicroscope, comparing with that of originl fabrics. The tensile strength and elongation at break of reformed non-woven fabrics weresame as those of original fabrics. An initial Young's modolus obtained by the biaxial tensile test decreased considerably due to the effect of the increasing stretch ratio in the primary process of fabrics. The bending stiffness was decreased remarkably, while the softness and bulky characteristics of reformed non-woven fabrics were increased.
