AN intra-loop conveyor was designed to collect and elevate fruit on a harvester designed for high-density fruit orchards. The conveyor collected fruit at a position approximately 15 cm above the ground and elevated the fruit to a position 2.5 m above the ground on a single flighted belt. Fruit were then discharged across the adjacent row of trees on a second conveyor. Fruit damage was evaluated from in-field sampling during harvesting and from stationary tests designed to evaluate the effects of fruit loading rate, conveyor speed, and cross-row slope on fruit damage. |
