Popis: The practice of chest drain insertion has radically changed in the last 10 years. The use of pleural ultrasound has greatly increased the safety and efficacy of chest drain insertion and has led to this procedure becoming a much more specialist procedure than previously. This extensive and very practical chapter covers all aspects of drain insertion: indications, drain types, complications, insertion techniques (Seldinger and blunt dissection), management (including the issue of clamping), and the recent introduction of indwelling pleural catheters.
