Elastic α-scattering on 40Ca, 50Ti and 52Cr was measured for many energies between 23 MeV and 80 MeV and angles between 20° and 174°. The data are interpreted with local optical potentials of generalized Woods-Saxon shape, and also with potentials given by “model-independent” parametrizations in terms of a sum of gaussians (SOG). The radial shape of the real part of the potential and its energy dependence can be determined to good accuracy when the strength of the imaginary part of the potential is moderate, as is the case for α + 40Ca. The energy dependence of the real potential points to the influence of higher-order processes and to deficiences in the simple folding model. |
