A technique has been developed to show Q- and G-banding in the holocentric chromosome complement of the agricultural pest Myzus persicae. Three Danish clones of M. persicae representing the normal and two rearranged karyotypes have been subjected to this technique. As a result, evidence is presented for translocation involving autosome 1 and autosome 2 in one clone and the same translocation plus a dissociation of autosome 3 in the other clone. The latter rearrangement, and perhaps also the former, are new to science. |
