Industrial Product Service Systems (IPS2) are characterized by a high integration of product and service shares. Services in the field of machine tools, particularly maintenance and repair, are highly knowledge intensive processes and their outcome can vary highly. An agent-based control system is presented that allows for the control of IPS2 including product as well as service shares. The use of ontologies, which are formalized descriptions of concepts and their relations among one another, will be introduced as a means for providing a model of the machine tool and its environment that can be used to influence the agents’ behavior in a way that corresponds to the state and the goals of the IPS2. |
