Popis: The effects are considered of sealing element (SE) parameters on the performance of the output gland for a deep-pumped installation. Tests have been done on this type of SE. A theoretical basis is provided for the economic performance of the proposed SE. A sealing criterion is considered for the sealed unit, and sliding friction coefficients are given for certain friction pairs. Calculations have been performed on the power needed to overcome the frictional forces in a gland containing viscoelastic SE.
