Popis: Polymer composites are widely used in many structural applications due to their ease of fabrication, low density and good tribological properties. This paper reviews wear studies of polymer matrix composites reinforced with natural fillers and environmental pollutants. Studies on wear properties of polymer composites have limitedly presented as compared with metals and ceramics. Composites prepared with industrial byproducts have gained attention in recent years due to their land fill issues and other hazards generated upon disposal. Expanding request towards segment materials that are lightweight, offer better mechanical properties superior than the conventional materials. Feasibility of including different fillers in polymer matrix for wear resistive applications are reviewed. Number of parameters that affect the wear resistance of polymer matrix composites with natural fillers such as sliding velocity, applied load and sliding distance (input parameters) and density of filler particles are presented.
