Popis: | Various models have been proposed for the destruction of the Eastern North China Craton (NCC); however, it is still a highly controversial scientific issue. In this study, abundant teleseismic data recorded by permanent and temporary stations in the NCC were collected, and P-wave tomography and common conversion point (CCP) stacking of receiver functions were performed. The results from this study reveal an upwelling mantle plume and a shallow Lehmann discontinuity (or the lower boundary of a low-velocity zone) beneath the Eastern NCC. Additionally, a large-scale, plate-like high-velocity anomaly is defined under the Eastern NCC that might be related to the delamination of a lithospheric keel. Based on the above results and assessment, NCC destruction might include two causes: lithospheric keel removal or delamination and mantle plume upwelling. |
