Popis: Bioethics is a developing and diverse discipline in Southeast Asia. The practice of health care and the concerns of bioethics are as varied throughout the region as are the nations and cultures of the region. There are a number of recurrent influences and concerns that one fmds in bioethics discussions. For example there are recurrent concerns about population growth and the allocation of health care resources, but the manifestations of these concerns can vary greatly from country to country. The concern over population, for example, ranges from encouraging population growth in Brunei to discouraging population increases in the Philippines. Throughout the region one also fmds strong influences of religion as part of the local culture. Christianity and Islam, for example, are powerful influences on the issues of bioethics in different cultures.
