Popis: | a b s t r a c t In 1924 Friedrich described the avascular necrosis of the sternal end of the clavicle. Of uncertain etiology and proven rarity, the condition usually manifests as pain in the sternoclavicular joint and swelling of the sternal end of the clavicle, which can progress to insidious limitation of shoulder movement. Most patients experience remission of symptoms with conservative treatment, with resection arthroplasty of the sternoclavicular joint being reserved for difficult cases. The case is presented of a 27 month-old girl with Friedrich’s disease, who received only conservative treatment, with a good outcome. |
