Popis: | The objective of this investigation is to find the best feasible machining parameters in order to obtain better surface quality. The turning operation is carried out with TiN coated carbide insert on AISI 4340 steel under near dry machining condition. The machining parameters, namely cutting velocity, feed rate and depth of cut are chosen for the conduct of experiments based on L9(33) orthogonal array. The surface roughness of the machined work piece is measured by using surface roughness tester. A mathematical model representing average surface roughness is developed using nonlinear regression analysis with the help of MINITAB software. The optimum machining conditions for minimum surface roughness are determined through Taguchi's technique and genetic algorithm and verified with confirmation experiments. |
