Popis: Helicobacter pylori infection is now recognized as one of the most common gastrointestinal bacterial infections in man [1]. During the last decade H. pylori has been indicated as a commensal bacterium of the gastric mucosa [2] but recently it has been considered the main etiological factor for chronic gastritis [3] and its presence appears to be an essential condition for the recurrence of peptic ulcer disease [4], Moreover, case control studies indicate that people with H. pylori infection have a high risk for development gastric adenocarcinoma, in both eastern [5] and western countries [6].
