Popis: | From 1992 to 2008, 837 carnivores originating from 384 localities in Northern and Western Thuringia (Germany) were subjected to gross examination for cranial helminth parasites. Examination of the skull of one of 78 pine martens (Martes martes) showing dark discolourations in the visceral supraorbital region revealed the presence of seven nematodes (two males, five females) which were identified as Skrjabingylus petrowi Bageanov in Petrov 1941. This is the first record of this parasite species in Germany and the fourth case reported outside the former Soviet Union where this nematode was originally described. The morphology of the isolated S. petrowi specimens was consistent with the descriptions given by other authors. |
