Popis: | Bioethanol is considered one of the most promising substitute for fossil fuels, however its competitiveness as a bulk commodity highly depends on the process technology. The pretreatment step has a major role on the bioethanol fermentation broth concentration. Three process key-factors were evaluated and the total annual cost (TAC) was compared for three different technologies: acid pretreatment, liquid hot water (LHW) and ammonia fiber explosion (AFEX). Savings of 5.5% and 5.1% on total annual costs regarding product separation and purification and an increase in bioethanol productivity of 20% and 20.6% were obtained for LHW and AFEX methods respectively. |
