This paper presents the potentials of nature extracted sensitizers adsorbed onto the Rutile-Anatase-TiO2 electrode at 10 µm and 15 µm thickness. The proposed novel dyes were immersed into TiO2 film and tested on its UV-Vis absorbance spectrometer. The focus of this experiment is to characterise two novel dye sensitizers extracted from Keriang and Pucuk Merah fruit. Result for TiO2(Keriang) shows photon energy and absorption coefficient of 2.43 eV and 2.123 k m−1, respectively while the TiO2(Pucuk Merah) shows photon energy and absorption coefficient of 2.30 eV and 2.005 k m−1. Although the anatase and rutile phase of TiO2 material of has an optical energy gap of 3.15 and 3.05 eV, respectively, the addition of dyes has managed to increase the conductivity of TiO2 by lowering its band gap energy. This in turn will caused the electron transport resistance to reduce and encourages electrons to travel from the HOMO of valence band (VB) to the LUMO of conduction band (CB) increasing the conductivity properties of TiO2 electrode. |
