Popis:	I would like to add my thanks to Dr Doxiadis for arranging this meeting in this wonderful city. I now have pleasure in introducing the first speaker of Session III, Dr Kerkhoff, who is Director of Public Health Services in Leiden. Dr Kerkhoff’s main interests are in prevention and he serves as a member of the Prevention Fund, a committee formed to give financial support to scientific research in the field of preventive medicine.
