HLA antigens of 131 patients with ocular herpes simplex infection were compared to those of a control population. None of the HLA-A determinants showed a significant deviation in frequency from the control population. In the locus B, HLA-B5 antigen was significantly more common in the 44 patients with recurrent stromal keratitis. Several hypotheses are discussed in order to explain a possible relationship between HLA antigens and disease severity. |
