Many meat-type animals have been treated with diethylstilbestrol (DES) in an attempt to improve rate of gain. Improved gains in weight have been reported in sheep but enlargement of structures associated with the urogenital system occur and at times have been troublesome (Bell et al. 1954). Enlargement of some of these structures has been described in wether lambs grazing on subterranean clover in Western Australia (Bennetts 1947). |
