Popis: | Catalytic studies on the hydrogenation of carbon monoxide by glassy Fe and Ni-based alloys are presented. Glassy alloy catalysts performed better than their more stable crystalline analogues and their activities and thermal stabilities are augmented by a treatment in nitric acid. Selectivity studies show little difference between glassy and crystalline catalysts at low pressure (1 bar). At high pressures (30 bar), however, some glassy catalysts show an enhanced methanol selectivity. |
