Dislocation development and void formation during electron irradiation in inconel X-750 with γ' precipitates

Popis: Swelling behaviour and dislocation development in aged Inconel X-750 containing γ' precipitates during electron irradiation at temperatures of 673 to 823 K were continuously observed with a high voltage electron microscope. In the specimens with large γ', aged above 1073 K for 24 h, the void formation is drastically suppressed at temperatures of 710 to 760 K. The dislocation density in the matrix away from the large γ' is fairly low, although the dislocations tangle around the γ'. In the specimens with fine γ', aged for about 24 h at temperatures below 1023 K, fairly large swelling of 1–1.5% occurs after 20 dpa irradiation at 735 K. The dislocations climb through the fine γ ' and the dislocation density in the matrix increases rapidly with irradiation dose.
