Comparisons of Shielding Anisotropies for Different Nuclei and Other Insights into Shielding from an Experimentalist’s Viewpoint

Popis: In pursuing studies of multiple bonds and strained rings containing 29Si, 31P and 119Sn, we have needed to consider systematic methods for comparing the shielding anisotropies of these nuclei with those for 13C in their wholly organic counterparts. A simple shift scaling method has been empirically found to be quite useful in this regard. This work has also lead us to consider semi -empirical calculations of shielding to develop insight into the factors governing gross trends in shielding anisotropies.
