Popis: SUMMARY In two commercial blackberry plantations almost all the bushes became infected with crown gall (Agrobacterium tumefaciens (Smith & Townsend) Conn) within five years of establishment from nursery stock in which there was some infection. Inoculations to determine the relationship between time of pruning and crown gall susceptibility showed that there was no safe time for cutting out old canes, their cut surfaces remaining susceptible for several days at least, Leaf scars and lateral cuts were susceptible throughout the year but were most readily infected during the growing season.
