Popis: | A field experiment was conducted in southern Wisconsin during 1981 to investigate differential parasitization by Patasson luna (Girault) of alfalfa weevil, Hypera postica (Gyllenhal), eggs laid in green alfalfa stems and ground litter. Parasitization of weevil eggs laid in litter was higher than that of eggs laid in green stems throughout the period of major weevil oviposition activity (14 April through 27 May). Overall, 13.0% of eggs in green stems and 46.9% of eggs in litter were parasitized; adjusting for the proportion (27.3%) of weevil eggs deposited in ground litter, an estimated 22.4% of all eggs were parasitized. P. luna females encountered the same proportion of weevil egg clusters in green stems and litter, but on the average, parasitized a larger proportion of the eggs in litter clusters than in green stem clusters. |
