Popis: | Various systemic forces color the process of boundary making for male couples. This article discusses both the internal and external factors that affect creation and maintenance of boundaries in the male couple. Among the dimensions examined are the male gender role, the couple's relationship to the families of origin, norms pertaining to monogamy in gay male culture, ethnocultural constraints, and homophobia. Therapeutic tools for supporting couples' boundary creation and maintenance are explored, including the deconstruction of male role socialization, therapeutic use of rituals, Bowenstyle coaching, legal protections, and social activism. |
