Popis: Techniques and applied computer programs based on them were developed for calculating temperature fields when justifying the safety of spent nuclear fuel and fissile material storage and transport in compliance with the domestic and international rules and regulations. The temperature fields in the containers and protecting constructions of storage facilities were obtained by numerically solving two- and three-dimensional heat transfer equations (depending upon the complexity of the constructions under consideration). The software packages CASK and BERTRAN were developed for these calculations. The temperature fields of inner components of containers and storage facilities were calculated by computer programs based on experimentally tested techniques. The program ROLD was developed to calculate the temperatures in horizontal rod systems and the program BUT was applied for vertical rod systems.
