A double-arm spectrometer using a micro-channel plate and two large two-dimensional PIN diode arrays was constructed to perform double-energy double-velocity (2 E , 2 ν ) fission experiments with additional folding angle information. An event-by-event data analysis method is described. A method to determine simultaneously the pulse height defect and the mass resolution of the spectrometer is developed. The spectrometer was used in the study of 235 U(n th , f), 252 Cf(sf) and antiproton induced fission reactions. Mass, velocity and energy distributions of 235 U(n th , f) and 252 Cf(sf) are presented. The advantages of such a spectrometer are discussed. |
