The aim of the study is to evaluate the epidemiology and treatment of children and adolescents with acute metformin poisoning admitted in the Toxicology Department - "Grigore Alexandrescu" Children Emergency Hospital Bucharest. Metformin poisoning represents a diagnosis and treatment challenge in children and adolescents as severe complications can occur rapidly due to metabolic acidosis and low cellular energy levels. The paper proposes some useful hints about the moment when the haemodialysis treatment should impose because that decision that is not closely related to the doctor experience. |
