The economic conditions in Poland for growers of agricultural products have become less favorable since the frontiers have been opened to international competition. One of the lines of fruit growing which still remains profitable is production of blueberry fruit and young plants. It is so because the costs of production are relatively low, especially the costs of hand labor. Another favorable condition is the growing demand. A limiting circumstance is the difficulty in obtaining credit and the extremely high interest. Trie present paper is based on data from a well-managed blueberry farm. It brings a description of the farm and unique (so far unpublished) information on the level and structure of production costs and the size of income. |
