Examples of structural evolution during sliding and shear of ductile materials

Popis:	The focus of this paper is on structural changes, sometimes accompanied by composition changes, that develop adjacent to sliding interfaces in ductile materials. Examples of observations on sliding of crystalline and non-crystalline materials are compared with recent molecular dynamics simulations. Similarities between cases of sliding and localized shear are also noted.
