When reviewing the literature on accident research it becomes obvious that the distraction of car drivers has increased intensively during the last years and that it is a serious reason for many car crashes: drivers are not only faced with a more complex traffic environment, but at the same time the availability of in-vehicle information systems has increased, too. For sure, a major aim must be to gain a better understanding of the underlying distracters and to provide tools for designing both the traffic environment and the in-vehicle interfaces less demanding. |
