Popis: SUMMARY John Herschel's use of the camera lucida as a drawing aid and the part played by this instrument in Henry Fox Talbot's motivation to invent photography are described. Herschel's seminal contributions to the early progress of photography, his attempts at colour photography, his invention of the “blueprint” process and his assistance to other photographic pioneers are discussed.
