Popis: | The Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) reaction has been successfully applied for decades for conventional liquid fuel and wax production. F-T presents a promising direct reaction pathway, for light olefins (C2=_..4=), the building blocks of the plastic industry. However, a catalyst that meets all the criteria of activity, stability, and selectivity has not yet been discovered for light olefin production. There are still unresolved issues like iron-support interaction and the secondary metals contributing to the surface reactions such as CO dissociation, surface-bound (-CHx-) monomers growing, and their termination to give paraffins or olefins. The aim of this study is to modify the physicochemical properties of activated carbon by introducing a heteroatom of nitrogen, e.g. urea, and investigate the effect of promoters on urea-doped activated carbon supported iron catalyst. Thus, a series of catalysts have been prepared and tested under F-T to olefin reaction conditions and their catalytic nature has been interpreted in relation to their physicochemical properties.
