Popis: An electromechanical sensor to detect fish movement has been developed. The sensor consists of a simple pendulum device that acts as a switch. The signal obtained is processed by a computer running an MS-DOS Operative System and a program written in BASIC. The sensor was tested on cultured rainbow trout ( Onchorynchus mykiss ), and remarkable cycles in movement were found. Various patterns were recorded — day/night cycles and peaks related to feeding or external stimuli.
