Popis: | This paper uses a model for general management developed by Pascale and Athos 1 to compare Western and Japanese management in order to look at those factors necessary for successful energy management. The seven S factors—strategy, structure, systems, style, staff, skills and superordinate goals—are examined in the context of energy management. As with general management, it is concluded that in order to be truly effective it is necessary for energy managers to be skilled at pulling all seven ‘levers’ and that in many organisations the ‘soft’ S's—style, superordinate goals, staff and skills—are often neglected. |
