Popis: A general Urban Emission Model for estimating the contribution of road traffic to total emission of air pollutants in urban areas is developed. It is a simple method using available data (inhabitants and jobs) as input. The model can be used by local councils in traffic and environmental planning. The development of the model is based on data of Copenhagen. The total traffic flow distributed over different vehicle categories and speeds has been registered together with number of inhabitants and jobs. Total emission of NOx, CO, HC, particles, CO2 and energy consumption has been calculated using a detailed emission model. The correlation between urban data, traffic flow and emissions has been analysed using statistical methods testing different hypotheses. It was concluded that there exists a linear correlation between urban data and emissions. Based on this, the Urban Emission Model has been developed.
