The aim of the present research was to describe and relate learning styles and learning strategies of students of a university in Lima. There were 218 students as participants. The data-collection procedure was collective. The instruments used were the scale of Learning Strategies of Roman and Gallego, validated and with reliability in Peru (Cronbach’s Alpha of 76), and the Honey-Alonso Learning Styles Questionnaire (CHAEA), also validated and with reliability in Peru conducted by Capella et al. (2003) (Cronbach’s Alpha for the four areas: active=63, reflective=73, theoretical=66, and pragmatic=59). Frequency and percentage tables, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Pearson correlation coefficient, multiple linear regression analysis with two models (model of introduction and stepwise model) were used for the statistical analyses.A significant relationship was found between learning styles and learning strategies. Regarding the results of multiple linear regression, it is observed that there is a regression model between both variables. It was concluded that learning strategies styles [sic] and learning styles are interrelated, and that learning strategies are predictors of learning styles. |
