Popis: In this paper, empirical mode decomposition (EMD) in the Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) was used to analyse the relationship between asphalt pavement surface texture and skid resistance. A laser profilometer was used to scan the surface texture of nine groups of asphalt mixture with three gradations and three coarse aggregates. The texture profile was decomposed into a number of intrinsic mode functions (IMF) by the EMD method, and then the IMF was further combined into BIMF. Seven texture parameters were selected to characterize the texture characteristics of profile and BIMF, respectively: MPD, MDE, Rq, Dq, Lq, Ssk and Sku. On this basis, BPT and Tire/pavement dynamic friction analyzer (TDFA) were used to test the friction coefficient, and the correlation between the texture parameters and the skid resistance was compared and analyzed. The results show that the correlation between BIMF1 texture parameters and BPN is low, but the correlation between BIMF2 texture parameters and BPN is higher than that of the measured profile. In addition, the contact state, speed and slip rate of the tire have an important influence on the skid resistance of the pavement. Under different speeds or slip rates, the correlation between texture and friction is quite different. Furthermore, MPD, MDE, Rq, Lq and Sku are recommended to characterize both the original curve and the curve changed by HHT in the correlation analysis between texture and pavement friction.
