Popis: Contrary to the promise of the sixties, the condition of families and children in the United State has deteriorated. However, the subject of family policy seems relevant once more. Establishing social policy conducive to the stability and well‐being of family life will require an honest addressing of issues including family structure, poverty, drugs, and race. Fiscal policies also must be addressed if needed actions are to be taken. The findings of social science must be taken more seriously. Specific actives are enumerated and discussed. The role of the Catholic Charities movement must continue as in the past to support family life through provision of services and intelligent and cogent support of public policy based on reason and our religious tradition.
