Popis: The structure and properties of carbon fibers (CF) irradiated by electrons in argon (Ar) and air have been investigated. It has been found that the irradiation results in the CF structure rearrangement, strength and modulus increase, surface marked erosion, and length shrinkage. There have been revealed. essential and complex changes in concentration of H2O, CO, and CO2 groups being dasorbed and the impregnation rate of CF with epoxy, depending on the irradiation fluence and medium, as well as the holding time after the irradiation.
