Popis: Phenol -formaldehyde novolak resins are prepared by the polycondensation of phenol with formaldehyde in the presence of acids. Despite the great practical importance of this reaction, we have insufficient data on the kinetics and mechanism of the process. The polycondensation reaction in acid medium has not been fully elucidated from a kinetic standpoint, nor has the chain propagation mechanism.
