Popis: | Two applications of the BBC microcomputer in teaching the essentials of the electrocardiogram are described. One is an interactive computer-assisted learning program aimed at A-level students and above, which uses prerecorded data from healthy human subjects to produce high-resolution graphic simulations of electro-cardiographie records, presenting them on a continuously scrolling screen display to simulate a chart recorder. The program is menu-driven, easy to use, and contains well-presented relevant information, concise instructions, and student assignments, making it a self-contained teaching package. The second is an inexpensive, optically isolated ECG amplifier which interfaces directly with the BBC microcomputer using the on-board analogue-to-digital converters. The accompanying software allows data capture, high-resolution display, and simple analysis of ECG data at a fraction of the cost of commercial ECG recorders which are often beyond the means of schools and colleges of FE. The timescale can b... |
