Popis: The concentration potentials across benzyltriphenylphosphonium and ethyltriphenylphosphonium halides in n-butanol were studied with aqueous solutions of univalent anions. The detection limit has been calculated using the theory of Kamo and co-workers. Comparison of that theory with earlier theory given by Buck suggests that the origin of equilibrium membrane potential detection limits in solid and liquid ion exchange membranes is analogous.
