Popis: | The MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) induced heating of body tissues surrounding medical implants is a major safety concern during scanning of patients. The present paper examines the heating of tissues in the proximity of an artificial hip joint implant. The finite element method has been used to determine the currents induced in the implant. The spatial electric field distribution of the scattered MRI RF field has also been computed. The temperature rise along the length of the implant is found using the Pennes' bioheat equation. Spatial distributions of the temperature rise in tissue have been found after application of MRI input power for different time intervals. |
