Popis: A method is described for the estimation of free lysine which depends on its reaction with excess dimethylaminonaphthalene sulphonyl (dans) chloride to form dans-5-aminovaleraldehyde. This product is extracted into toluene, separated by thin layer chromatography and estimated by fluorimetry. The mean recovery of lysine added to casein hydrolysate using this method was 99% (s.e. 4.3%).
